Intergenerational Dialogue

Reflection Blog by Jon Rasmussen. In the present moment, you will always be able to spot glimpses of what we should never forget in our daily life. In this picture two generations find a connection, while everyone else is busy. That intense and immediate connection is priceless, and there is so much in that intergenerational meeting we often don´t remember to dive in to.

The advantage of bringing the experience, wisdom and skills of different generations. Those meetings sharing our take on the world, brings meaning among generations, and can help us to build peaceful and emphatic societies. But how to make people spending more time together, learning from each other? It depends on us as individuals, but we can absolutely do our best in creating the environment needed for intergenerational dialogue. a few ways could be to use: “Dialogue as the philosophy of life and approach to others”- which brings better understanding, by active listening to each other, more respect, awareness of stereotypes – general consciousness. This is on a deeper level with more exploration of our minds, habits, judgements.

Daily dialogue” – which means implemented in your daily life, as daily routines - applying different activities you can do together, In our families, lokal communities and society at large. Learning new languages from each other, dancing, cooking together etc. The sky is the limit. What we do together brings better understanding on all levels, young people get to know where they come from, and can build the future they want from that point. What we do together brings us closer - which is something much needed in today's

digital, and fast moving world. Always seek to connect with all generations. There is a world of amazingness awaiting in those present moments.
